About the Event

A key and strategic location for Continental Army encampments and artillery placement, troops under General John Thomas were stationed in Roxbury to support the siege of Boston. The former dirt fort at Roxbury's Fort Hill (now Highland Park) commanded the only land route into Boston. Cannons were strategically placed at the dirt fort and on Roxbury Hill to threaten British forces. This ultimately forced the British to retreat on March 17, 1776.

Join us as Roxbury Historical Society president, Byron Rushing shares insights, facts, and musings about this important role.

This family-friendly event is free and open to everyone. RSVP required.
