About the Event

With immense pride, The Roxbury Historical Society, Senator Liz Miranda, and Mili Mila present a Panel Discussion on The Cabo Verdean Kriolu Language and history of Cabo Verdeans in Massachusetts. Learn about the over 200-year history and impact of Cabo Verdeanos in Massachusetts. The panel discussion features Manual DaLuz Goncalves and Josephine Tavares of the Cabo Verdean-American Dictionary, Dr. Aminah Pilgrim and Edmar Goncalves of Kriolish.

In addition to a history table, there will be food from local Cabo Verdean businesses, and dictionaries and books for sale. This is the first in a series of four events over the course of the next year focused on Cabo Verdean History, Language , Arts , People and Culture. The event will take place at :

Senator Liz Miranda is a first-generation Cabo Verdean-American and the first female Cabo-Verdean State Senator in the United States. Senator Miranda's parents are from the Cabo Verde island of Fogo.
